Billyswatches was founded in Louisville, Kentucky, out of a straightforward conviction: that buying a fine watch should be as considered as the watch itself. We curate exceptional timepieces and present them honestly, so collectors and first-time buyers alike know exactly what they are looking at.
Our Story
Built on a fascination with how time is kept.
Billyswatches began in 2016, when a long-held fascination with mechanical watches turned into a business based in Louisville, Kentucky.
What started as personal collecting became something more deliberate: sourcing watches worth owning, photographing them properly, and describing them without the vagueness that so often surrounds the pre-owned market. After ten years, that approach has not changed.
We are not trying to hold the largest inventory in the country. We would rather offer a smaller, carefully chosen selection and be able to speak knowledgeably about every piece in it — why a particular dial matters, what an unpolished case is worth to a collector, which references reward patience.
Every watch listed here has been through our hands. That is the whole point.

Quality
Every timepiece is selected with careful attention to condition, presentation, craftsmanship and overall quality. If a watch does not meet that standard, we do not list it.
Transparency
You should have clear, accurate information before you buy. Reference, year, dial and condition are published as we have recorded them. Where a detail is unconfirmed, we say so rather than filling the gap.
Service
Luxury should extend beyond the watch itself. Every enquiry receives the same care and professionalism, whether you are buying your first Datejust or adding to an established collection.
Trust
A high-value purchase requires confidence. We would rather lose a sale than oversell a watch, because we are interested in the second and third purchase, not just the first.
The Art of Watchmaking
Several hundred parts, assembled by hand, keeping time for decades.
A mechanical watch has no battery and no microchip. It runs on a coiled mainspring unwinding through a train of gears, regulated by a balance wheel that oscillates several times per second — often 28,800 times an hour — and it does this continuously for years between services.
Precision at that scale is a manufacturing problem of a peculiar kind. Pivots are measured in hundredths of a millimetre. Jewel bearings made of synthetic ruby reduce friction at the points of highest wear. Hairsprings are shaped to compensate for changes in temperature and position, so a watch keeps similar time on the wrist and in a drawer.
Then there is the work you are not meant to notice: bevelled bridge edges, circular graining on plates hidden beneath a caseback, hands polished so they catch light at one angle and vanish at another. Much of it is invisible once the watch is assembled. It is done anyway.
Materials carry the same logic — corrosion-resistant steel, precious metals, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel inserts that resist fading. Understanding this is what separates buying a watch from buying an object that tells the time.

Are your watches inspected before being listed?
Every watch is inspected and photographed individually before it goes live, and the condition we record is what appears on the listing.
How can I learn more about a particular watch?
Each listing publishes the reference, year, dial and condition we hold for that specific piece. If you need something not shown — a measurement, additional photographs, service history — contact us and reference the listing.
Do you ship nationwide?
We are based in Louisville, Kentucky and serve customers well beyond it. Every order ships free by fully insured FedEx overnight service and arrives the next business day after it ships, with tracking and, where the carrier requires it, signature on delivery. See our Shipping Policy.
